WGM was one of our sponsors and Todd Eckhart briefly described some of the new things they are working on to assist camps. I asked Todd to write out a little more about their work so you might consider utilizing the resources WGM offers:
Dear Camp President,
WGM is blessed by the effectiveness of the camp meeting in calling people to live out the Great Commandment in their lives. WGM also thanks the camps for allowing us to help the followers of the Great Commandment see that each believer must go and fulfill the Great Commission. In a united effort to mobilize the Church, whether it is around the block or around the planet, WGM offers itself to you as a partner in assisting the promotion of the Great Commission to your campers.
WGM has partnered with The Mission Society in helping churches and institutions build outreach strategies based on Acts 1:8. These strategies are not agency driving, nor are the exclusively international. Rather the strategy is kingdom based to include any agency that meets the outreach plan of the institution. The building of a plan can encompass everything from Jerusalem to the uttermost parts of the earth.
The building of a plan is very applicable to today’s church camp. Many camps have a missionary day. For some this day is a highlight for others it is a day to take a break. Some camps send short-term mission teams, while others receive work teams to assist with their grounds. Wherever your camp may fall on the spectrum we are willing to assist in building an outreach plan that meets the needs God has designed for your setting.
Examples would be:
· Help your mission day become a Global Impact Celebration Day
· Mobilize the youth or children for a community project in the town or county your camp is located.
· Recruit a short-term mission trip made up of your campers and have them report on their trip the following year.
· Help nightly mission moments tie to the overall outreach plan of the camp.
The possibilities and ideas are endless and as varied as your camp needs.
